Equuleus means Little Horse or Foal in Latin. The Equuleus constellation is the second smallest constellation in the night sky. We included Equuleus as part of our Midnight Classic collection because we liked the Greek mythology surrounding this tiny, yet powerful constellation. One story says that a young woman named Hippe tried to hide her pregnancy from her father the half-horse, half-man centaur, Chiron. The goddess Artemis placed Hippe among the constellations where she still appears to be hiding behind Pegasus, the winged horse.
The choker for our Equuleus piece, with its gold plating on a black neck-hugging strand reminds us of the unbridled power of Artemis, the daughter of Zeus (the king of all the Greek gods) and Leto, sister of Apollo, a much revered, much feared Greek god. The Equuleus pendant hanging below the exquisite choker sparkles with power. The four-cornered constellation barely stays within the confines of its circle. The little horse has gained power from Artemis, his savior. We hope you will gain a sense of self, channel a little of Artemis, and perhaps see swiftness and speed from Pegasus while you’re wearing this jewelry. Elegant. Powerful. It is a synergy of 24K gold plate and expressive midnight black.
